Our "Why"
The BFRB Community has been largely ignored by the traditional healthcare system.
Christina Pearson is credited for bringing this community together by speaking out nearly 30 years ago about her own BFRB struggles. She's the one that got treatment professionals on board early on and pushed for research and even helped come up with the name!!
Christina's heart-centered approach to building community for those with BFRBs is rooted in love - and so is the answer to BFRB recovery.
Our Mission
1. Encouraging the recovery of people with BFRBs through online growth groups
2. Increasing access to care by training new and seasoned mental health treatment professionals
3. Reducing stigma and shame by educating outsiders through research and media attention
By organizing other BFRB-entities to work together, BCM vows to uphold these pillars.
We are stronger together
BFRB Changemakers NFP collaborates with other US-based and International BFRB advocacy non-profits/charities to support and amplify community healing for people suffering with hair pulling (trichotillomania), skin picking (dermatillomania), and other Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors.

Our Partner
